What Is CIAA - SX Charlotte 2010

The 2010 65th Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Basketball Tournament is the largest amongst Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs). It returns to Charlotte, NC, Feb. 21 - 28, 2010 as one of the largest and successful basketball tournaments in the United States. The annual tournament showcases athletic competition in men's and women's basketball during five days of play culminating with the championship game.

In addition to basketball, fans have the opportunity to attend numerous events surrounding the tournament. The variety of activities is astounding. The CIAA tournament provides the backdrop for celebrity hosted after parties, spirited student step shows, the CIAA Fan Experience, concerts, a show stopping education, networking opportunities with business professionals, reunions with alumni and the chance to meet and mingle with old and new friends.

Charlotte has played host to CIAA for the past 4 years with over 155,000 attendees in 2006, over 165,000 attendees in 2007, over 177,000 attendees in 2008 and over 185,000 attendees in 2009 during this annual tournament with an expected attendance of over 200,000 in 2010. As the fan base continues to grow, so does the roster of notables that can be seen at the tournament and affiliated events. The CIAA tournament has welcomed Steve Harvey & Monique (syndicated radio program), Sean Combs (a.k.a. P. Diddy, recording and apparel mogul), Earvin "Magic" Johnson, Michael Jordan (NBA Hall of Fame and entrepreneurs), Gabrielle Union, Lisa Ray, Jurnee Smollett, Wil Smith, LLCoolJ, Morris Chestnut, Idris Elba, (major motion picture actors), T.I., Young Jeezy, Bow Wow, Nelly, Fantasia, CeCe Winans, Ruben Studdard, Raheem DeVaughan, Trey Songz, and Chrisette Michele (all recording artists) to name a few as guests.
